THIS PROJECT REIMAGINES THE SPIRIT OF VENICE THROUGH A MAT-BUILDING STRATEGY INSPIRED BY LE CORBUSIER’S UNBUILT HOSPITAL. AT ITS HEART IS A MONUMENTAL PORTEGO—A LINEAR PUBLIC PASSAGE THAT ANCHORS THE ARCHITECTURE AND ORCHESTRATES MOVEMENT ACROSS THE SITE.

FROM THIS CENTRAL SPINE, CIRCULATION RADIATES ORGANICALLY, CONNECTING A NETWORK OF HOTSHOPS, GALLERIES, SHOPS, A CAFÉ, AND A FINE RESTAURANT. THE DESIGN UNFOLDS LIKE A WEB, ENCOURAGING EXPLORATION AND OFFERING A SEQUENCE OF SPATIAL EXPERIENCES THAT FEEL BOTH INTUITIVE AND UNEXPECTED.

MUCH LIKE THE VENETIAN URBAN FABRIC IT DRAWS FROM, THE PROJECT INVITES LAYERED MOVEMENT, POROUS THRESHOLDS, AND SHIFTING PERSPECTIVES—CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF A CITY SHAPED BY LIGHT, WATER, AND CRAFT.
